Nerja in a few words

Nerja is a friendly town on the Spanish Mediterranean coast in the autonom region of Andalusia. It has tourism, but it’s not the kind of place you would find big groups of bus tourists. It’s more a town for families who like to go to the beach during the day, have a nice dinner and walk a little through town in the evening.

Nerja’s charm is partly due to its beautiful location on a plateau above the sea with all kinds of different beaches and coves. The combination of the beautiful ‘Balcon de Europa’ and the typical narrow Spanish streets in the old town gives Nerja a pleasant atmosphere. The two main shopping streets are Calle Cristo (with the post office ‘Correo’) and Calle Pintada, with a wide variety of interesting shops to browse in.

The famous beach is Burriana Beach, a comfortable wide beach with lovely fishing boats and a nice boulevard. On the beach the ‘chiringuitos’ prepare big flat pans with paella and they roast the sardines on the grill (mostly pierced on a bamboo stick). You can’t see Burriana from the centre but you can get there by foot through a steep pass way close to the Parador (this is one of the protected state hotels). On this beach they do a lot of water sports (diving, water bicycles, water scooters etc)

Nerja is a family holiday town with a creative and vibrant atmosphere. There are a lot of different beaches, an old historic centre with traditional narrow, cobbled streets,shops ,restaurantes and bares.

We have owned our apartments since 2000 . We absolutly love Nerja , in particular the Burriana Beach area  the amazing mountains and the special familiar atmoshere from the spanish people.......
